Software/Hardware:
We use PreSonus hardware and S/W - Studio One Professional is our DAW of choice.
It allows us to record and use effects and instruments in real time, giving musicians the best possible experience.
We also have Ableton Live, in the system (for collaborations with other producers /artists).
We have Instruments and plugins available from AudioThing, Audiffex, Celemony, iZotope, Lexicon, Slate Digital, Soundspot, Soundtoys, Spitfire Audio, Waves, Plugin Alliance / Brainworx, Native Instruments, Black rooster audio, Toontrack, etc.

Recording process
LTA is in a noise sensitive zone and we are respectful to our neighbours.
So we have developed strategies to manage high volume levels created by certain instruments and recording scenarios.
We have an isolation cabinet for guitar speaker cabs. (Also caters for amp/speaker combos) This has bonus tracking benefits as it allows good instrument separation and prevents unwanted ‘bleed’ into other mics.
Note for twin guitar line up bands wishing to track live we run guitar ‘1’ in the cabinet and guitar ‘2’ through a di and amp sym. (Engl, Friedman, Fuchs, Orange, etc.). Guitar ‘2’ would then have the option track with his/her real amp.
We record all bass guitars using your DI signal and run boutique amp sims from Ampeg and Gallien-Krueger directly into your headphone mix.
We record live drums using a hybrid kit set up. Real cymbals blended with premium samples triggered from our Gretsch kit & Roland e-drum module for tracking and the full Superior drummer eco system for production and mixing.
(We have a dedicated house kit, permanently set up and ready to record)
Vocals are best captured separately to the band tracking, allowing pristine vocal performance takes with no compromises. That said we are very aware the guide vocal performance recorded while tracking the band can produce good results - perhaps as singers are more relaxed performing with the band and unaware the record button is on!..
In cases like these we usually ask the vocalist to record in the control room which gives good separation from what's going on in the live room.
All of the above contributes towards a fast set up time and minimises the amount of gear bands need to bring with them.. - Leaving more of your valuable time for making music and recording
Headphone mix set up follows instrument set up We use various templates to get you close to what you need from the moment you start playing. You hear what you want to hear (we have 4 independent headphone mixes plus another 6 duplicates over the 2 rooms).
All bands / artists get a final mix - We are invested in the Plugin Alliance portfolio of high end EQ’s, Compressors, channel trips and amp sims. This allows us to produce something close to commercial release standards in terms of sonic quality and loudness etc.
Standard versions of tracks come ‘mastered’ in house that's to say they have loudness levels that compete with commercial releases.
You can also have non mastered versions, or even the individual stem files.
(Its your music you are in control) :-)
Vision

LTA is the vision of former drummer Kevin Scott, Studio builder, owner, recording enthusiast, mixer.
‘I’d always wanted to have a career in music beyond my regular playing years, I wanted to use the experience and learning I’d had over the last 35 years to connect with other musicians and help them bring their own projects to life.
